JUSTIN LI is an active local councillor representing the people of Ryde.
He grew up in Eastwood and attended Eastwood Heights Public School. He later attended Normanhurst Boys High School, where he finished as dux of the grade.
Justin is an active volunteer in the community. As Vice Chair of the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW (2006 – 2009), he was a strong advocate for those without a voice in the community.
In September 2008 at the age of 26, Justin was elected as an independent councillor to Ryde Council, representing the people of West Ward, and becoming the youngest and only councillor from an Asian Australian background in the current Council. In an election which saw the major political parties increase their dominance on Ryde Council, Justin was the only new independent elected to Council.
Justin is passionate about transport, traffic, parking, community facilities, housing affordability, youth, and multiculturalism issues in Ryde.
Justin is currently a member of Ryde Council’s Public Works Committee and chairs the Eastwood Events and Promotions and Ryde Lunar New Year Committees. Justin is also a member of the Ryde Community Harmony Reference Group, Ryde Youth Council and Crime Prevention Committee.
